Thanks Keelan!! I have all my numbers plugged and I really worked at it for 8 weeks, and lost only 4 pounds. :( Arrrggghhh

I am back to the drawing board and plan for a fresh start tomorrow after struggling last week.

Good information, "eat less than you burn" is simple as it gets. But most stuff you read doesn't explain how to find a starting calorie level.

I think the factors going into calculating your BMR, is height, age, weight? So, I guess it needs to be recalculated as you lose weight. Guess you get to eat less as you lose more! Ha!

Also, I've wondered about the metabolic testing, I think it uses oxygen levels as a measure? I don't know if heart rate is part of the mix. Just wondering if that's a good measure for someone like me who's heart rate is kept low by the meds I take. Or do you just recommend trying a calorie level and seeing if you lose weight. I sure hope I burn more calories than my heart rate monitor shows when I do cardio.

Thanks!

Great question. In the scenario my BMR is 1739 my Total is 3000. I would eat 2500 calories to lose one pound. I will most likely only burn at the most 600 calories in a workout. That means I still burn 2400 calories even if I did not workout. So if I do not exercise I would only eat 1900 calories instead of 2500 calories in order to lose 1 pound. I hope this makes sense. If not give me a call and I will explain it further.

Keelan, Great blog. Thanks for the help you have given me.

Question: If a person does not exercise and wants to lose weight. The math would indicate they they should eat less than their BMR. You seem to indicate this would not be healthy.....
So... Is it possible to lose weight without exercise.
